The newest addition to the Urae team, Jonathan became President in March 2023. He brings over 15 years of expertise in the mining and renewable energy industries, with a strong focus on strategic partnerships, project financing, and overseeing operations in international markets.
Jonathan’s extensive background in emerging markets, combined with his expertise in stakeholder relations, community development, and structured engagement programs, makes him uniquely qualified to lead Zenith’s collaborations with Indigenous communities. His 10 years of experience in corporate communications, media strategy, and navigating complex regulatory environments are invaluable as Zenith focuses on expanding its project portfolio.
Jonathan also serves as the President of Northern Exploration Corp., a company dedicated to advancing critical and strategic mineral projects across North America.
Daniel Harper, CPA, has a wealth of experience as a financial executive. A graduate of Queen’s University and a former partner with Grant Thornton LLP, Daniel has co-founded and developed multiple public companies now trading on the TSX and NASDAQ. With significant expertise in corporate governance, Daniel has held roles as CFO and director for both private and public organizations and currently serves as CFO and Director for several publicly traded firms.
Mr. Hayes is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum (CIM#4590). He earned a B.Sc. in Geology (1994) and an M.Sc. in Structural Geology (1997) from McGill University.
Michael Hayes brings 30 years of experience in mineral exploration, covering resources such as diamonds, gold, potash, REE, and lithium. His expertise includes 8 years in base metals and uranium exploration within North America. Michael has successfully managed projects from greenfield exploration to bankable feasibility studies.
He has also spent 10 years as a consultant for the mining industry. As Exploration Director for Stellar Potash ($110M budget), Michael supervised drilling and resource evaluation campaigns in Saskatchewan. While working with GeoMax Consultants, he oversaw gold and REE exploration in West Africa. He previously held the role of Senior Field Geologist for the Yukon Geological Survey.
John Evans is the President of Evans Mineral Consulting Ltd. He is a seasoned industrial minerals exploration and economic geologist with over 38 years of expertise in the assessment, development, and market analysis of industrial mineral properties and materials.
Mr. Evans is an authority on the geology, processing, and market dynamics of industrial minerals and the economics of their production. His extensive expertise spans a variety of industrial minerals and specialty metals, including rare earths, graphite, vanadium, lithium, tantalum, and niobium. His assignments have ranged from grassroots exploration to feasibility studies, market evaluations, and valuation reports.
He has led projects across North America, South America, Europe, and Africa and is well-versed in technological trends for industrial mineral applications and beneficiation processes. Mr. Evans is a Registered Professional Geoscientist (Registration Number 1524) in British Columbia and a Professional Member of the Society of Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (#3207456).
A graduate of the University of British Columbia (1975) and McGill University (1977), John is a recognized thought leader and frequent speaker at international conferences, presenting on topics such as titanium, battery metals, and graphite processing.
Ricardo is a senior executive with a degree in Business Administration from FGV in 2005. He continued his education by earning an MBA in 2020 and is an active member of the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC).
Ricardo has specialized knowledge in financial compliance and certification, having obtained his certification from LEC in 2020. With a diverse professional background, Ricardo has held key roles as a portfolio manager and strategic board member. His career includes significant leadership positions, such as a Regional Manager at BP, and Senior Planning and Consulting roles at Deloitte and Petrobras.
Chris Morgan is an experienced business entrepreneur with over 30 years in various sectors, including over two decades in the mining industry. He is a Director of Aurora Resources, a publicly traded company he founded in 1994.
Michael Anderson has over 40 years of experience in the mining, metals, and resources industries, with a career spanning companies across North America, South America, Europe, and Africa.
Mr. Clarke is a registered Professional Engineer (Quebec) with more than 40 years of experience in the mining and exploration industries. He has held leadership positions as an officer and director of several public companies listed on the TSX and TSX Venture Exchanges.
Mr. Clarke is highly experienced in guiding exploration programs, overseeing project management, securing mine permits, leading construction projects, managing operations, and assessing corporate acquisitions. He has served as president of New Horizons Mining Inc., Xtreme Resources Ltd., and Goldrich Mining Corp. He currently serves as a director of Nexa Minerals Ltd., Uranium Ventures Corp., and Silver Creek Mining Co.
David Grayson has been a driving force behind the discovery and development of multiple important mineral deposits, including the celebrated Eagle Rock nickel deposit in Canada. With more than 50 years in the mineral resources industry, David has served as an officer and director in various public exploration and mining companies.
Dr. Mitchell is an economic geologist with over 45 years of international experience in the mining and metals sectors, specializing in rare earth elements and base metals. He spent nearly a decade working with the World Bank in Washington, D.C.
His areas of expertise range from global mineral resource geology and estimation to market supply-demand analysis. Dr. Mitchell has presented on these topics across six continents and has provided advisory services to governments in Canada, Brazil, and South Africa. Additionally, he has over 12 years of experience in the exploration and development of rare earth element projects.
Peter Hamilton is a partner at Hamilton & Clarke LLP, specializing in corporate and securities law. He serves as the Practice Leader of the firm’s Corporate Law Group and holds director and officer roles with several public companies.
John Matthews is a consultant, author, and educator on the fundamentals of strategic metals markets. He coined the term “strategic metals” to refer to materials that are vital to technological advancement, such as rare earths, lithium, graphite, platinum group metals, and various rare metals. John is one of the foremost experts on rare earths in the United States and provides advisory services to government bodies, including the US Department of Energy, in addition to consulting for various companies in the sector.
Dr. Lawrence has been an advisor and consultant to several resource companies since 2020. He has over 30 years of experience consulting on Indigenous affairs related to project development in the resource sector, focusing on coordinating between Indigenous communities, resource companies, and various levels of government.
Dr. Lawrence has contributed to numerous projects, from environmental impact assessments (EIA) to the construction and operational phases of mining and energy projects.
Hailing from Fort McMurray, Alberta, Dr. Lawrence’s Cree and Dene heritage provides him with a profound understanding of Indigenous perspectives, offering unique insights into the challenges facing Indigenous peoples today, both in society and the workforce. He is a strong advocate for environmental protection, sustainable development, and the integration of Traditional Ecological Knowledge in resource projects.
Dr. Matthews holds a B.Sc. in Geology from the University of Toronto, a M.Sc. in Geology from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, and a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of British Columbia. Between 1982 and 1986, Dr. Matthews worked as a research geologist for Noranda Inc. at the Matagami Mine in Quebec.
In 2021, Dr. Matthews, Ph.D., P. Geo., retired as Chief Geologist with the Ontario Geological Survey (OGS), Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry. The primary role of the OGS is to support the exploration and development of Ontario’s mineral resources through geoscience research.
Dr. Matthews joined the OGS in 1987 as a project geologist, focusing on geological mapping and mineral deposit studies in the northern and central regions of Ontario.
Jack Thompson brings over 30 years of experience as a mining engineer and geological consultant, with 12 years spent working at the Northumberland coal mining district. He has specialized in coal extraction methods, mine ventilation systems, and was actively involved in the development of an advanced coal purification process at Northumberland.
John Harrison is the former chief geologist for Silver Creek Mining Co. in Sudbury, Ontario, with 40 years of experience in the geology of the Sudbury Basin, including exploration, resource estimation, and mine geology.
